Some things I really liked about this program include learning about Emery’s phases of break-up adjustment, which helped me understand my own feelings and those of our children. I appreciated the focus on keeping children out of conflict and prioritizing their safety and emotional well-being. The practical strategies for communication, co-parenting, and creating parenting plans were very helpful, as they gave me clear guidance for managing a high-conflict co-parent while maintaining stability for our children.

This course introduced terms for things that I had already been doing, which might be important at a later point. So the other people, including the court may understand what I’m talking about. I also appreciate that the course understands the need to take care of ourselves as being a priority. I’ve seen a lot of people neglect themselves, not realizing the effect that has on the children.

Some things I really liked about this program are that it helped me understand the importance of putting my children’s needs first, gave me strategies for clear and respectful communication with my co-parent and provided tools for managing conflicts calmly. I also appreciated learning ways to keep my children out of adult disagreements, create stable routines and involve them appropriately in decisions that affect them. Overall, the program helped me feel more confident and prepared as a co-parent.

I really liked that you had to write several responses. This made you reflect and really take responsibility for how you may have been co-parenting and how there are much better ways to co-parent during stressful times. I also liked the videos and the letter from the child really hit hard for me. I wept and it made me really put myself in my children's shoes.

I enjoyed the video scenarios. The course did a great job of introducing perspectives from the different parties involved in a divorce. The course also maintained it's primary focus throughout each unit, which was, "how do we think about the best interests of the kids" when discussing the multiple variables and changes in our relationships.
