I like that it made me see the full picture of the break-up and how it relates to parenting. There were introspective questions that made me slow down to reflect on the relationship. Even though we have been separated for 3 years, it was good for us to both take the same course and intentionally think of the parenting plan that we have developed.

It was helpful to read about the things that children of all ages should be told and not told, and at what time. I was surprised to see that this included information for adult children, teens, and children with special needs. This was very helpful.

I found this program to be particularly helpful in that it eased my knowledge of my children's emotions and offered advice on how to manage situations in a more positive manner. Also, I enjoyed getting the knowledge vital to strengthen my communication skills and avoid my children from causing conflict. I got a different perspective and liked the way things were broken down to take us out of our personal situations to explain things, then put back into perspective when connecting back to our personal situations, I loved the info on how to help kids feel comfortable and understand things better, and kept so many resources to go back and look at for more info to continue to apply that to my children's life as they grow-up.

The course didn't pretend that this is easy. It acknowledged the 30% increase in living costs and the emotional 'lag' between the person who leaves and the person who stays, which feels realistic.
