I learned how to use proper clear communication. In a situation such as my own I’ve liked this program for many reasons. I like the steps of the ladder. I like how it concentrates on what’s best for the child - for example - it states not to talk badly about the other parent. I know if someone does this class, and doesn’t take anything from it, then they were clearly not paying attention, or didn’t invest the right amount of time for it.

I liked how thorough the chapters were. I also appreciated the journal entry prompts because a lot of them allowed for expansion on my thought process and not just a black and white answer. The final chapter on DV and IPV was especially useful and really solidified a lot of things for me. This program invites participation, but still allows for individuals to put in the effort they are capable of and I think that's an intelligent design. The amount of information you can gain from it scales with the amount of effort you put into it.

This course provides some valuable information - parallel parenting and parenting plans give structure and reduce conflict, which is especially valuable when emotions run high. Understanding what cortisol does in the brain helps you see why stress can make communication harder and why emotion regulation matters so much. That kind of insight turns reactions into choices.
