12 Hour - High-Conflict Co-Parenting - Co-Parenting Without Conflict

May 29, 2025

Sham F.

Some things I really liked about this program are that it brought real, meaningful values to the surface - like putting the children first, learning to communicate without conflict and focusing on long-term emotional health instead of short-term frustration. It helped shift my perspective and reminded me that co-parenting isn’t about winning or losing - it’s about building a stable, supportive environment for my kids, no matter what.

Well, it helps a lot to understand shared custody, how to treat our children, and the topics that should be discussed, such as talking to them and keeping a schedule and ensuring they feel comfortable in both homes.

The reality of how horrible separation and divorce is. I cried at least three times, maybe more, which I didn’t expect to do. It really shows the horror and nightmare of what is actually the death of a relationship. Though I will and am doing better after I left, the difficulty is that I am managing a lot on my own which wasn’t my plan. I really never expected this to happen and I certainly didn’t want to be in the statistic of a divorced woman. I’m thankful there was clarity on what mediation is and how it can be more beneficial than getting a lawyer. I frankly wished I had gotten mediation to begin with. There was loads of good information that helped me think about what I need to do to make a better parenting plan. I’ve heard people talk about them in general but never in depth and I needed guidance on that. I also gained new terms that are helpful. We are collaborative colleagues right now and I pray and hope it stays that way.

I liked learning about the stages of grief to acceptance and how co-parents may be in different stages; how children react to divorce at different sensitive periods; what courts want to see - the best interest of children; parallel parenting and negotiation; self care and self repair; providing two options with parenting plans; annoying occurrences to serious.

Some things I really liked about this program were how it focused on practical tools for real-life co-parenting challenges. I appreciated the emphasis on keeping things child-centered and learning how to manage conflict without getting drawn into emotional arguments. The “stop, look, and listen” strategy was simple but powerful, and the sections on parallel parenting gave me realistic ways to communicate when tensions are high. I also liked the examples and journal prompts—they helped me think through my own patterns and decisions in a new way.
