Journaling exercises force you to think. The parent planning worksheet was helpful to have some frame of reference for where to start a conversation with my ex. The information from the specialists was really good. I like how divorce itself wasn't demonized like society does. I also really liked the focus on mediation and how it can save both money and time.

12 Hour - Parenting Skills - Ages 5-13

May 1, 2025

Nicholas V.

I really appreciated how the course opened with a clear, research-based framework that laid out the four distinct parenting styles—authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and uninvolved—and helped me understand how each one shapes a child’s behavior and self-esteem. I was especially struck by the emphasis on building a secure, loving attachment first, since warmth and trust create the fertile ground for any effective discipline that follows. The practical, age-appropriate strategies—ranging from specific praise and logical consequences to structured family meetings—felt immediately usable, and the focus on nurturing resilience through positive self-talk and reframing setbacks showed a commitment to fostering true confidence rather than mere compliance. Finally, the interactive true/false and multiple-choice checkpoints kept me engaged throughout, reinforcing the key concepts as I went.
