February 1, 2026

Marisela C.

What I liked about this course was learning about stages of adjustment, how to be a good co-parent, that we have to take care of ourselves first and about the stress children experience while parents are separating. I also enjoyed learning about the 5 types of communication styles, tips on managing conflict and how to communicate better with the other parent. It's important to stay away from telling each other what to do and from feelings when communicating with your partner - focusing on information, problem-solving and on caring for the children.

I initially didn't have high expectations for this class. However, taking time to go through it and really focusing on understanding each lesson was so beneficial. My favorite part of all the units were the videos of the kids. So often, their voices aren't heard. They feel they aren't cared about. It was so eye opening to hear directly from them and how they are affected in the process.
