I enjoyed unit 3. I liked how it explained to me why my behavior toward my wife was abusive, creating unrealistic, unnecessary, and destructive conflicts. If only I would have learned this earlier...

8 Hour - Co-Parenting / Divorce Class

Johanna G.

I think it's good that it was interactive, making you actually write down your thoughts and be engaged rather than just all content. It is good to have a mix of different types of questions, I think. I think it was good that it began by talking about self-care because as a mom, this can definitely fall by the wayside, or it seems less important than whatever else is going on. You tend to feel guilty doing anything for yourself. But it's actually important to take that time to heal and reset because it affects everyone around you. I think the videos and content were pretty clear, too, and could be understood by a wide range of demographics and be useful.

Some things I really liked about this program were how practical it was. It didn’t just talk about co-parenting in theory - it gave real situations and things I could actually apply to my own life. A lot of it felt relatable, especially around communication and conflict. I also liked that it focused a lot on the kids’ perspective. It helped me step back and think about how all of this looks and feels from their side, not just mine. That was a good reminder of what really matters. Another thing I appreciated was how it emphasized what I can control. With my co-parent having a “my way or no way” attitude, I can’t change how she handles things, but the program helped me focus on how I respond, how I communicate, and how I show up for my kids. Overall, it gave me some realistic tools and a different way of looking at things, not just “perfect world” advice that doesn’t actually apply.
