I liked that high-conflict and abusive relationships were included in the co-parenting course as I often feel isolated and misunderstood in normal contexts when my experience feels extreme and this course started with basic break-up information that made me feel this was going to be generic and not apply to our family circumstances but it turned out to be a great course and very helpful.

It helped me slow down and reflect on my own parenting values, not just the conflict with my co-parent. • I appreciated the focus on putting the child’s needs first—it reminded me of what matters most, even in tough situations. • It gave me a chance to think about how I’ve already grown and what I’m doing well, instead of just focusing on what’s wrong. • Some of the journal prompts helped me process emotions I didn’t even realize I was still holding onto. It wasn’t always easy, but it gave me tools and language to better support my child and myself moving forward.

I did enjoy how this gave me a better understanding of sensitive periods for a child and what to expect in their grieving process. I did enjoy how this class helped me better understand better ways to communicate and be direct and problem solve (offering proposals). I appreciate that this class acknowledged and understood that not all parents can co-parent effectively and may need to parallel parent with little things. I enjoyed how this class taught me about different types of conflict (values vs issues).

It showed videos of children and what they go through when parents divorce. It helps to put things into perspective. It enforces that you need to take care of yourself and your emotions. It tries to get co-parent to work together vs. getting lawyers and courts involved if possible.

Some things I really liked about this program are that it brought real, meaningful values to the surface - like putting the children first, learning to communicate without conflict and focusing on long-term emotional health instead of short-term frustration. It helped shift my perspective and reminded me that co-parenting isn’t about winning or losing - it’s about building a stable, supportive environment for my kids, no matter what.

The reality of how horrible separation and divorce is. I cried at least three times, maybe more, which I didn’t expect to do. It really shows the horror and nightmare of what is actually the death of a relationship. Though I will and am doing better after I left, the difficulty is that I am managing a lot on my own which wasn’t my plan. I really never expected this to happen and I certainly didn’t want to be in the statistic of a divorced woman. I’m thankful there was clarity on what mediation is and how it can be more beneficial than getting a lawyer. I frankly wished I had gotten mediation to begin with. There was loads of good information that helped me think about what I need to do to make a better parenting plan. I’ve heard people talk about them in general but never in depth and I needed guidance on that. I also gained new terms that are helpful. We are collaborative colleagues right now and I pray and hope it stays that way.

I liked learning about the stages of grief to acceptance and how co-parents may be in different stages; how children react to divorce at different sensitive periods; what courts want to see - the best interest of children; parallel parenting and negotiation; self care and self repair; providing two options with parenting plans; annoying occurrences to serious.
